Jul. 7th, 2008

The weather today has been flippin' awful. The rain has been stopping and starting all day. It absolutely chucked it down at lunch time. Two of my colleagues got soaked when they went out for lunch. I felt a bit smug as I'd taken in my sandwiches and didn't need to go out. I waited until twenty past five for it to stop raining so I could leave work. I managed to walk into Hounslow before it started again. I missed both buses, had to wait for ages for the next one and after a trip around Asda, during which I got stuck behind the slowest woman alive in the checkout queue, I didn't get in until after 7pm. No exercise for me again tonight.

Adding to the misery were chaos and confusion at work. About a quarter of the site is now out of bounds due to the building/refurbishment/demolition work. The new entrance was used for the first time. Getting from the new entrance to my office involves walking down the service road at the back of the teaching blocks, through the teaching block and through the back door to my building. It now takes 5 minutes extra to get to work! The direction signs didn't go up until after 10am so I'm sure many people got lost in the interim. It's going to be an interesting summer, that's for sure.

We're meant to be going on our annual Brownie trip to our local Country Park tomorrow. I get the feeling we won't be going if the weather stays like this.
