I made a strawberry and walnut cake today. The walnuts sunk to the base and I didn't have enough whipped cream to cover the sides but all in all it worked quite well. I hadn't whipped cream since I helped my Nanna do so as a child. I think I may have over done it as it went a bit too thick. My family seemed to like it and as it was my mum's birthday cake that's all that really matters.

Other than that I haven't had a very exciting weekend. Went to the chiropodist yesterday and I don't have to go back for three weeks. I then went to Kingston where I bought birthday gifts for mum, an 8 inch diameter deep cake tin, a cake board and a bread knife. I considered spending some of the Topshop vouchers I've had for ages on a top but couldn't be bothered to wait in the 15 person deep (I kid you not!) queue for the changing rooms. Also, they'd sold out of the earrings I didn't buy last time I was there. Oh well! Winter clothes are now coming into the shops so I must try and buy some warm tops before they sell out. How depressing that winter clothes are in the shops already. It'll be Christmas decorations next.

Yay for Shipwrecked! I know I shouldn't really like it but I'm sorry to say I do. I'm actually quite excited to find out what happened when the 'Hawks' went back to the main islands. Although I know from previous series that they won't let us know the outcome until two weeks time. Go Tigers!

Oh, and I highly recommend 'Greek' to anyone who hasn't seen it. Sunday at 9pm or Thursday at 7pm on BBC3.
