Ouch!

I've just clonked myself in the chin with one of my kitchen drawers. It hurt and I predict that I will have a lovely bruise on my face in the morning. Great! How did you manage to whack yourself in the face? I hear you ask. My kitchen bin is concealed in a cupboard. When my dad installed the bin he had to move the shelf up so there is only about three inches of space between it and the bottom of the drawer above the cupboard. I shove all my old plastic bags in the gap as there's not really space for anything else. This evening the drawer wouldn't shut. I got on my knees with the cupboard open to see whether it was the bags that were causing the problem. I reached to the back of the cupboard and it turned out it was actually one of my oven gloves which had gone down the back of the drawer. I attempted to pull the oven glove out but it was still partially in the drawer which promptly shot out and socked me in the chin. What an idiot I am at times.

Additionally, I burnt the fajita mix I cooked for dinner. It was a bit more 'smokey' than I think it was meant to be :( I now have a very burnt wok which I can't wash up because my rubber gloves have sprung a leak.

On the plus side, Mum came round today and we managed to get quite a bit of family history stuff done. We've ordered 5 certificates from the General Register Office and they should be dispatched on 28th February. I'll be really excited when they turn up. They are mostly related to my great grandparents, some of whom are easier to trace than others. My mum's paternal grandfather was unfortunately (for us!) called named Frederick King, a name so common it makes him almost impossible to track down. It doesn't help that he died in the first world war so even my grandad (who was five at the time) knew next to nothing about him.

I tried out BBC iPlayer tonight and watched last night's episode of Torchwood. Unfortunately, I managed to accidently start watching next week's episode first (because it was this week's BBC3 episode if that makes sense) so I knew what was going to happen at the end. I'm still a fan of Freema Agyeman. I think Martha Jones is a great character and so far I fail to see how Catherine Tate will be able to make the grade in comparison. Couldn't quite make up my mind what Alan Dale was doing there. Surely, it's a step back from 'Ugly Betty' to 'Torchwood'. Maybe they pay well.

Last night I went to the Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood with the Brownies. A couple of months ago the Brownies entered a competition to design a superbug which was run by a headlice removal shampoo manufacturer. One of our Brownies won first prize which was to have her superbug turned into a comic strip by a professional cartoonist. The company booked out the museum for the evening in order to hold the presentation. We were lucky enough to have the run of the museum and it was really fun. I was Brownie age last time I went there so it was great to have another look and to reminisce about some of the toys I had when I was a kid. Also, the dolls houses are fantastic. One of them has survived since the 1600s which I find amazing. I have no staying power any more though. We got back at about 10pm and I was knackered. I'd been on annual leave during the day too.

I don't know what I'm doing tomorrow. If the weather is as bad as it has been so far this week I won't be going sightseeing.
