I cannot even start describing how much I love Moving Wallpaper. I will quite happily sit through Echo Beach in order to spot the crossover bits. My personal favourite in tonights episode was Marcus Patric accidentally overhearing a writers meeting in which they were discussing whether or not to kill his character off. The look on his face was priceless. I'm still not sure to what extent Echo Beach is meant to be serious. A couple of my friends reckon it must be tongue in cheek. The run up to the explosion last week was horrendously obvious. However, I'm really not sure. I can't help thinking that ITV have been a bit clever with the whole set up. I think I'm right in saying that in general the audience for intelligent sit-coms is different to the audience for soaps. By linking shows of the two genres they may well have ensnared both audiences for an extra half hour. I'm not much of a soap watcher (except Hollyoaks of course) but I love sit coms and the fine comic cast of Moving Wallpaper encourages me to watch. I then find myself watching Echo Beach to discover how it all panned out.

Just as I'm getting used to one example of postmodern TV another of my favourite shows has gone all post modern on me. Yes, I'm talking about Hollyoaks. Andrew Lloyd-Webber, of all people, has conspired with Channel 4 to 'plant' Summer Strallen in the show in order to cross over with the fact that she will be the new lead in The Sound of Music. I knew that something was up right away. The Langford/Strallen family are well known in this area and I knew people who went to stage school with Summer's big sister Scarlett. I knew she was really a stage star. However, I had no idea it would turn out like this. And well done to Hollyoaks for linking the storyline in with Darren Jefferies' leaving storyline. I'm in crap TV heaven at the moment.

On a completely different note, I went to dinner with my friend last night and she gave me a lovely handbag for my birthday. I've been absolutely spoilt rotten by my friends over the last few weeks. I'm a lucky girl.
