Furniture shopping today wasn't what could be described as a great success. We went to Harveys and Dreams but neither had what I was looking for. The beds in Argos look most likely but it's difficult as I only have catalogue photos to rely on. In Argos I reckon I can get a bedframe and deluxe mattress for just over £200. In Dreams or Harveys it would be more like £250 just for the frame. The frames didn't look very good quality either. I'm looking for a wooden bedframe as a divan won't fit up the stairs without a lot of agro and metal bedframes are uncomfortable when you read in bed. Preferably it'll be solid pine or beech effect as the doors are beech effect and I'd like them to vaguely match. It also needs to have a fair amount of space beneath it for underbed storage as it's a small flat and I collect a phenomenal amount of clutter!
In total, I've decided that I need the following furniture to kit the flat out completely:
Bedroom
Bed + Mattress - £400 max
Bedside table - approx £40
Tall, narrow chest of drawers - approx £90
Bookcase - approx £20
Living/Dining Room
Sofa - approx £300
Unit to hold TV and Stereo - haven't found one yet
Storage unit for DVDs and CDs - approx £20
Desk for Computer - approx £100
Chair for Computer - approx £80
Table and four chairs - approx £130
Coffee table - approx £50
I'm so glad the Kitchen and Bathroom are already done or I'd be tearing my hair out. My bathroom has a silver border of tiles which is really cool. I'm hoping to put an aluminium blind in to match. I also want an aluminium blind in the kitchen as the appliances are grey/silver. The only window I'm not sure about is my bedroom as it looks out on to the station which is lit all night so I think a thick covering will be required. I might have to buy some curtains for that.
I also need the following:
Lampshades
Stir fry pan
Tin opener
Kettle - my sister's boyfriend owes me one. I will be demanding it for housewarming!
Ironing board
Hoover
Kitchen Bin
Bowl
Bucket
Drainer
I'm sure there're lots of other things but that's all I can think of right now.
