Progression...
Sep. 8th, 2006 10:06 pmThis flat buying lark is eating up a significant amount of my annual leave. I took this afternoon off and spent it seeing my solicitor and measuring up the flat. Took Mum along to help with the measuring and got it sorted in no time. Mum used to work in a drawing office before she had me and her job involved measuring up massive telephone exchanges. Even though she hasn't done that job for 25 years she still knew exactly what she was doing. I wouldn't have thought to check the height to light switches etc. so I was glad she was there. At the moment she's downstairs drawing a scale diagram of each room, bless her, so we can check whether my furniture plans are realistic. The living room actually felt bigger than I remembered it which was pleasing. Last time I viewed the flat, a builder with a scaffold on wheels was asleep on the living room floor which probably made the room seem somewhat smaller! Tomorrow me and mum are off to Harveys and Dreams to look at furniture. My solicitor reckons it'll be at least another fortnight before I complete so hopefully if I order stuff tomorrow it won't be too long before it's delivered.
Roll on the Autumn TV schedules. Tonights offering was diabolical. The only thing even vaguely worth watching was 'Restoration Village'. BBC1 even broadcast a clip show of the best of 'The Weakest Link' and people claim that Big Brother's bad!
Barbara Windsor was the subject of 'Who do you think you are?' this week. She discovered that one of her ancestors had the surname 'Collins' and came over from Ireland during the potato famine. During our recent investigations into our family history we discovered that my mum's maternal grandmother's maiden name was Collins so we may well have Irish blood somewhere along the line. This is quite ironic as my grandmother was severely prejudiced against Irish people and no one could understand why. We're beginning to wonder whether something happened in the family that we don't know about...yet!
Got to the end of Crash Bandicoot - The Wrath of Cortex which I'd started and given up on, some time ago. Now I can't figure out how to beat the final boss. I'm very tempted to search out a walkthrough on the net. Now I've started Tony Hawkes Under Ground which is OK but I still can't master the 'manual' properly. It's driving me nuts and I'm sure it'll prevent me finishing the game. Oh well, I should probably concentrate on uni work instead of gaming anyway.
