Gotta reason...
Jul. 8th, 2006 06:11 pmThere I was, last Sunday, absent mindedly watching The OC when I realised that the song playing was 'Gotta Reason' by Hard Fi. How strange is that? A song written and performed by a band made up of some ordinary blokes from Staines, a suburban town not too far from here, being played in the American teen drama of the moment. That made me smile.
Also, someone on 'Holding On' has just pointed out that Press Gang legend Paul Reynolds will be appearing as a mad bomber in Holby City this Tuesday. I'm not a great fan of hospital shows as I don't like gore but I'll have to force myself to watch this one as Paul isn't on TV very often. I really think he should have a part in Eastenders as I think he'd be great in a tragi comic soap role.
Lea, the scariest looking woman ever to appear on Big Brother was evicted last night. In my opinion she's in need of some serious psychological evaluation. Anyone who disfigures themself to that extent through plastic surgery has a serious body image problem. It's not so much the humungous breasts that disturb me but the tatooed on eyebrows which make her look suprised at all times. And whatever posessed her to wear such ridiculous shoes for her eviction? Didn't it twig that she'd have to walk down loads of stairs and that massive heals could be a bad idea!
Also, the new guy Michael reminds me to a scary extent of someone I used to work with in my old job. In addition to his appearance there are definite similarities in his back story despite the fact his name, age and religion are different. Intriguing.
I went to see a play called 'A Chorus of Disapproval' on Thursday night. It was about an amateur theatre company putting on 'The Beggars Opera' and was funny in parts. One of the amusing things about going to see a lot of amateur theatre is that sometimes the ages of the actors don't correspond with the ages of the characters they are playing. On Thursday two female characters who were obviously meant to be around the same age were played by a youngish actress (mid twenties maybe) and a woman who looked around 40. It spoilt the effect a wee bit.
We seem to be in the midst of an outbreak of engagements at work. Three people have got engaged in really romantic circumstances over the last fortnight. I'm happy for them all, but just a little jealous too. Maybe if the flat falls through I'll go and blow all my money on a diamond ring just to make me feel better ;)
I'm going on The London Eye tomorrow as my mum's birthday treat. I'm really excited as I've wanted to go for ages so everyone needs to keep their fingers crossed for a clear day.
Right I'm off to try and make an icon of a sheep with a pink bow around it's neck (from 4 Weddings and a Funeral) and then to watch the last Dr Who (Cybermen and Daleks, eeek!)
And I'm going to use my Colin icon as a tribute to Paul Reynolds' first appearance on TV this year...
