I've been typing too much. Despite my efforts to keep good posture, take breaks and do stupid looking exercises, my wrists, fingers and elbows hurt. Hopefully, it'll pass because I've got 3,500 words worth of assignments to write.

Grandad is in hospital again. He had a fall and was rushed off in an ambulance. No serious damage but he's so shaky and frail now he really shouldn't be alone. The problem is that he can't be moved from his bungalow unless he agrees to it. He could go into a care home or a hospice his vicar has found for him but he won't agree to it. Now he's in hospital and very confused. The nurse had to take his clothes away from him as he kept getting dressed and wandering off. I have no idea what's going to happen next, but it's all very worrying.

We were unable to make or receive any external calls at work this morning as someone vandalised the BT box which services the whole area. They reckon it'll be a couple of days before it's fixed. What on earth are we going to do in the mean time? Use our mobiles and invoice BT I guess.

The new computer isn't working properly (quelle suprise!) It connects to the internet quickly but then pages won't load fully :( I'm going to swap the telephone extension cable when I get in tonight as my father shut it in a door and broke it last night. If that doesn't help things, I'll have to be brave and phone the helpline.

Doctor Who was pretty good on Saturday. Definitely my favourite episode of the series so far, although it was the Stephen Moffat episode so I'm a wee bit biased. It was funny to see The Doctor turning into Colin Matthews (from Press Gang) when he first met Madame Du Pompidor. He even said "I've got chills" a line Colin uses in an episode of Press Gang. I'm not sure which episode but I think its 'Head and Heart'. I've used my Colin icon in tribute! I have to say that 'The Girl in the Fireplace' was greatly improved by Billie and Noel not being in it very much! Cybermen next week. I remember their encounter with Sylvester McCoy and Ace.

'Green Wing' was also good. I love Sue White, I think that's who I'll be in danger of turning into after a few years in HR! Dad really likes 'Green Wing' which suprises me as it's quite surreal but I suppose it is basically a lot of mad situations. A bit like a modern sketch show but with a central plot to hold it together instead of a 'wacky' MC. I might add 'Green Wing' to my interests list.

On Sunday night I asked mum to ask my sister whether she and her partner still had a PS2 in their house when she spoke to her on the phone. Unfortunately, mum didn't put two and two together and accidentally told my sister what I'm buying her for her birthday :S I'm going to get her a 'Sing Star' with the 'Rock' game. She's already got a dance mat so I think she should have the set! More importantly, I want a go and she might let me play!

Was woken up this morning at 6am by a hugh clap of thunder. Just the one, but it was very loud. Then got very wet on the way to work. The heel tip fell off my work boots on Thursday and as I've nearly gone through the sole it's not worth repairing. That's what you get for taking a healthy, brisk walk around the block on your lunch hour! All the heeled shoes in the shops at the moment are open toed so I was forced to wear flats to work. As a result my trousers were dragged through every puddle in town. They've only just dried out after walking from the tube to uni at lunch time.

During my lecture this afternoon I said that the article we were critiqueing was, in my opinion, written from a Marxist perspective. I won't be trying that again. At least two thirds of the class didn't know what Marxist meant and it was difficult to explain in a couple of sentences! Now they're probably all worrying that they don't know something essential (which it isn't) and are slagging me off for being a know it all. Oh well.

No thanks to the 38% of voters in our borough who turned out for Thursdays local government elections we now have a 'hung council' so nothing will ever be decided. All three councillors for our area are Conservative for the first time in my life. I blame the Labour party for getting complacent, particularly the former leader of the council who now has a lot more spare time on his hands! I wanted to vote for the Greens but they didn't field any candidates in our area. Neither did the National Front though which is good as they're really scary and blatantly intimidated non-white voters into turning away from polling stations when I was a child.

No word from Cardiff Bloke this weekend...
