On the move...
May. 11th, 2004 09:47 pmI've been a bad girl. I promised myself that I'd keep up with this online journal but I haven't written for ages. I'm back now to try and make amends.
It's been a busy few weeks. Three weeks ago I found out that I'd got a job I applied for in Plymouth. It was a big shock as it is a promotion and I didn't think I had any hope of actually being accepted. Now I'm trying to find somewhere to live in Plymouth, a rather daunting task as I don't know the city at all. I spent five days there over last weekend and looked at some rooms for rent which had been advertised in the local paper. I phoned loads of people but most of the rooms advertised were lodging in family homes which isn't what I want to do. I ended up looking at three properties: one was horrible, one was OK but the room was too small and the other was gorgeous but the other people living there don't seem to want me :( This means that when I move to Plymouth on Monday I will be living in a B & B or possibly a holiday flat until somthing decent turns up.
I think I could probably afford to rent somewhere on my own but it would mean paying £450 + bills each month instead of £260 inclusive which is what rooms seem to be going for in the area. Also I'd have to find a ginormous deposit which would mean borrowing money which I really don't want to have to do. On top of that I wouldn't be able to save anything with a view to renting a place where ever I move to next. This is a big concern as the promotion is only for a year, after that I may have to move elsewhere.
Ho hum. I'm sure things will sort themselves out.
