So I applied for a job...
Feb. 23rd, 2004 10:38 pm8 months after starting my current job, 3 months after being promoted and I've applied for a job outside the organisation. It was for an events assistant at Reading Council and looked much more interesting than what I'm doing now. It could mean a slight pay cut (less than a grand) and a longer journey but I've wanted to work in events for some time; you never know, this could turn out to be a golden opportunity. Fingers crossed!
I've been doing 'Zoe Lucker's Little Black Dress Workout' DVD for two weeks now. I'm not sure whether it's making me any fitter but I ache like anything. I'm finding the whole thing quite enjoyable though and my co ordination seems to be improving. I might be ready to try a real aerobics class soon.
Busy, busy, busy at work. There's going to be a network rehersal for the new central database on Thursday, Friday & Saturday and I'm the co ordinator which is a bit frightening. Also, Marie's NVQ assessor is coming to visit in a fortnight so I've got quite a lot of work to do helping her apply the work she's done to the huge list of criteria. So much to read and so little time in which to read it!
Talking of reading, I've just purchased a copy of 'The Two Towers.' I got bored with waiting for a copy to turn up in the library. It was quite easy to pick up where I left off as there was a 'the story so far' bit at the front. I get the feeling I'll end up buying a copy of 'The Fellowship of the Ring' just for the maps though. My map obsession means that I can't deal with not having them.
My other recent literary adventures have included 'The Rules of Attraction' by Brett Easton Ellis which is a bit of an aquired taste, 'Ecstacy' by Irvine Welsh, 'The Road to Nab End' by William Woodruff, 'The Discworld Companion.' After 'The Two Towers' I think I'll try and buy a second hand copy of 'Feet of Clay from somewhere as it'll probaby fill in a few holes in my Discworld back story knowledge.
