All in a day's work.
May. 8th, 2003 10:59 pmI quite enjoyed today. Myself and another temp were putting leaflets in folders ready for a conference on 'Growing Children Centres.' We were in a room on our own so we got a chance to have a good old chat and the day went pretty quickly. The other girl was called Ellie, she's really a freelance textile designer and just temps to help pay the rent. She'd travelled all the way from Stoke Newington on the bus as she's too claustrophobic to go on the tube.
I might even have saved the building from burning down as well. When I got back from buying my lunch I went into the little kitchen area to make a cup of warm water. I thought the room was a bit hot when I walked in and then I realised that some dipstick had left the sandwich toaster on and it was burning a hole in the toaster! I hope they're grateful!
Got a letter from CapitaRAS this morning to say that I passed the civil service EO exam so I'm on the junior management database. I'm absolutely amazed that I passed that test, all I can conclude is that the other candidates must've been terrible!
Just after dinner tonight my sister called to say that one of her housemates had accidentally poured boiling water over her hand, so mum and dad dashed over and spirited her off to A&E. Still don't know what happened when they got there but I guess they'll just put a dressing on it. Better to be safe than sorry though as the little kids she's working with might burst a blister accidently.
Tracey's off the hook. She phoned tonight and we're off to 'Tiffanys' in Bond Street tommorow to buy a birthday present for a friend of hers. I'll be terrified as I've never been in a shop as upper crust as that before. Tracey has a huge collection of 'Tiffanys' jewellry but I think it's all a waste of money. Might as well buy a cheap version in 'Oasis' as it goes out of fashion so quickly.
