The shopping trip to London was a complete failure. Tracey came back with nothing and didn't even decide on what she wants for her birthday. We trekked quite a long way. All the way down Bond Street, back up to Oxford Street and then from Covent Garden to Leicester Square and back again. I'm not very happy because I still haven't managed to find an acceptance card for the wedding. I want something original but too expensive. I've toyed with the idea of asking Will, my sister's boyfriend, to make one for me as he's an artist but I don't think he has much time on his hands right now.

In the posh shops on Bond Street we were constantly followed around by shop assistants. I know that it's because we looked like we didn't have much cash and didn't fit in with the other customers but it still upsets me as I'm one of the most honest people I know. I've never stolen anything in my life and I don't even like 'Tiffany' jewellery, I think it's tacky! It must've really annoyed Tracey as, although she doesn't have much money, she spends a great deal of what she does have in there.

We also had an ice cream in the Haagan Daz cafe in Leicester square. I had a cookie crunch which was gorgeous if a little sickly towards the end. I've only ever passed through Leicester Square before so it was nice to sit beside the window and people watch.

Tracey annoys me at times for being a fairweather friend but she does fill me in with plenty of gossip about people we used to work with at Homebase and that we went to school with. The big thing is that Diane, Tracey's oldest friend, has got back with her horrible ex Rodger, which believe me is very bad news, although the spiteful side of me thinks that they deserve one another.

Still no progress with the dreaded job hunt.
