30 Days of TV meme - Day 7
Jun. 1st, 2010 10:48 pm The way things are going I'm soon going to have to change the title of this meme to the '30 days of TV which takes 60 days to actually get around to posting meme'. Oh well, at least I'm still going.
Day 07 - Least favorite episode of your favorite TV show
Once again I've failed to choose and instead copped out with a dead heat. I really don't like episodes four and five of the fifth (and final) series of Press Gang. In my opinion they're just not of the same quality as the rest of the series. They are written almost like sitcom episodes and the little details just aren't there. In episode four 'Food Love and Insecurity' there is a restaurant kitchen where absolutely no cooking is taking place which would have been unthinkable in the earlier series. I also have a suspicion that Dexter Fletcher and Julia Sawalha aren't in character at the end of the episode when the water starts pouring in. Episode five, 'Windfall,' commits the heinous crime of not featuring Spike and/or Lynda very much. The plot line is also totally crazy and not anywhere near as funny as it wants to be. Generally, if I advise people about watching Press Gang I advise them to skip straight from 'A Quarter to Midnight' to 'There are Crocodiles' which isn't that great either but you sort of have to see the end of the last episode to make the whole thing work.
