We are in the midst of a heatwave.  I know this because the Hounslow ringmaster crime awareness loop phoned to tell me to check on elderly or vulnerable relatives and neighbours.  My parents are fine and my neighbours are in the same age bracket as me so I'm not worrying too much.

I'm currently thanking my lucky stars that I changed jobs.  My new office is air conditioned to the extent that I am considering taking in a thin cardie tomorrow.  It was quite a shock leaving the building at lunchtime and realising how hot it really was.  I began to feel quite sorry for my former colleagues back at the old place with just a couple of fans to cool them down.

My train woes continued this evening.  I arrived at Richmond at the normal time and for an unexplained reason the first two trains only had four carriages instead of the normal eight.  I couldn't even squeeze on to the first one and had to wait for the second which made me late for Brownies.
