My life has been a bit shit lately. I'm not going to write about it as I wouldn't know where to start. Instead I'm going to write about something happier. I just finished watching the first episode of the new BBC comedy 'The Cup' on BBC iplayer. It's the first new comedy which made me laugh out loud since 'The IT Crowd'. It's not high concept or post modern or particularly intelligent humour, it's just plain old funny. I wasn't suprised to note from the end creditd that it is produced by Sue Vertue (aka Mrs Steven Moffat) and executive produced by her mum Beryl Vertue. I love a decent British sit com. It centres on the parents of an under 11s football team who behave more like kids than parents. It's well worth a look if anyone is interested in that kind of thing.

I thought I'd bring out the old Dex icon as made by the lovely [livejournal.com profile] r_scribbles as I've been told that the Dex demonstrated yet another accent of questionable origin in an episode of 'Bonekickers' a couple of weeks ago. I didn't see it as I haven't read a single decent review of the series. Having heard about it, I'm glad I didn't watch. I'm not fond of seeing my favourite actors meeting disturbing deaths.

Now I'm off to do some more work on the old family tree. Another of my mum's cousins is coming up from Sussex next weekend and I've promised to produce something interesting for him to look at. It turns out we have a family connection to the west country. Still haven't uncovered anything really interesting though.
