It really has been awful today. The heavy rain and wind kept me awake most of the night. Unfortunately, heavy rain drops hitting my UPVC window sills sound like someone hitting a drum. I was frightened that the standard marguerite I bought on Saturday was going to snap in half in the wind or, even worse, that one of my plant pots would take off, smash the balcony glass and fall into the street below. Fortunately, neither of my pessimistic predictions came through. The marguerite has survived suprisingly well although quite a few of the flowers seem to have lost their petals. I need to get out and do some dead heading but it was raining too much.
Unsuprisingly, I stayed in all day. I watched 'Hot Fuzz' with the trivia track, did a 50 minute long work out, did some laundry, wrote a stroppy email to the council about them failing to empty the cardboard recycling bin, hoovered and had dinner. What a waste of a Bank Holiday. Saying that, I'm kind of glad we didn't go to Gatecrasher. We would have got a bit wet and windswept.
One of my best friends became an Aunty yesterday. She's getting married this year and I predict it won't be long before she's producing a cousin for the new arrival.
I think I might be hooked on Wordtwist on Facebook. I finally managed to beat my friend Rachel today. She's a primary school teacher so I think she had a bit of an advantage over me.
Mum and Dad have gone to Oxford for a few days. I guess they're going to do the touristy thing and look around the old colleges. Let's hope the weather improves for them.
I'm taking the day off work on Friday to go up to the London Metropolitan Archives with Mum to carry on the family tree research. Three day week. Yay!
