I'm glad that Wales won the Grand Slam, I really am. I went to uni in Cardiff so if England aren't in a position to win something, Wales are always my second choice. Also, I don't think any of the other countries in the six nations love Rugby as passionately as Wales. The purpose of this post though is to highlight the number of stereotypically Welsh surnames in the Welsh Rugby team. Today's team consisted of no fewer than 6 Jones', 2 Williams', a Thomas, an Evans, a Jenkins and a Rees. Plenty of room for jokes in that lot then. It seems as if Rugby still grows from the grass roots in Wales. Strange that rugby union is mainly a public school sport in the south of England. Saying that, several prominant clubs are based in my area (Harlequins, Wasps, London Irish, London Welsh and London Scottish) and our local club Staines RFC has a thriving youth programme. Only problem is that many players give up when it starts getting really rough. I wonder why it is that public school boys don't seem to mind being roughed up in the name of sport whilst kids from supposedly 'rougher' backgrounds can't take it?

In other news, I'm in danger of becoming fed up with that Duffy song. I like it and was even thinking of downloading it - until today. It seemed to be playing in every shop I visited and in the background of every TV show or trailer I saw (including the rugby coverage). I hate it when they go into overkill on songs. It seems to have universal appeal though. The guy who sits opposite me at work commented that he liked it the other day and he used to be in a punk band in the late 70s and early 80s.

The batteries in my wireless mouse are running out again. It eats batteries like nobody's business. I'm sorely tempted to buy an old fashioned non-wireless mouse, only vanity is stopping me.
