I wish I was a patient person...
Mar. 11th, 2008 10:34 pmTuesday night is Brownie night so I have to stay on the bus for a few stops more than usual. The traffic almost ground to a halt on the way into town. Normally when this happens it's because of a problem at the airport or on the M3 which has had a knock on effect on local roads. Tonight was different. The Police had cordoned off the top end of the High Street including my block of flats. I couldn't see what was going on from the bus as we were divereted on to some back streets. It took me an hour and a quarter to do a 35 minute journey. I'm the most impatient person I know so this wasn't a pleasant experience.
The road was still closed when I came home at 8pm so I had to take an alternative route through the multi storey car park. I still couldn't get close enough to the action to see what had happened. According to the BBC travel website the problem is 'an obstruction in the road'. Presumably something has blown over/down and caused utter chaos. On the plus side I'm having a very quiet evening as my road leads off of the closed bit of the High Street and as a result is also shut. Even with the planes and trains going past as usual the absence of car noise makes a noticeable difference.
Skins last night was wonderful. I love Jal and 'even more disturbed than before' Cassie is scary stuff. I don't know what I'd do without Skins and Moving Wallpaper at the moment. They really are the best things on TV.
Someone I went to school with who recently friended me on Facebook has just announced his engagement. Facebook - a way to unintentionally make your friends/relatives/random aquaintances you haven't seen for 10 years feel even worse about their lives. Grumble, moan, feel sorry for myself.
