Grumble, moan, grumble, moan etc.
Feb. 12th, 2008 10:23 pmI've had a pain in my upper back and shoulders for the last week or so. I put it down to general bad posture and not sitting properly at my PC. The pain was a bit annoying but wasn't stopping me doing anything. Long term readers may remember that I took up running last year. My exercise career has gone on hiatus through the Winter months for a number of reasons. Last night I decided it was time to get my lazy backside moving again. I started slowly by doing a half hour Joanna Hall workout DVD. I thought I coped OK for someone who hadn't done any serious exercise since last September. The good news is that I no longer have a pain in my upper back and shoulders. The bad news is that I have a worse pain in my lower back and my right hip isn't feeling too great either. Fantastic! Won't be doing any more excercise for a while.
I went up to London today for a seminar on Termination of Contract. The seminar was run by The Work Foundation which is a organisation which leads research on employment issues. The speaker was Olga Aiken who is a bit of an employment law guru. She didn't look like a hard-as-nails lawyer. In fact she looked rather like a friendly granny. It was a really interesting session and I enjoyed it. The journey up there was painless (overground train to Richmond then District Line to St James' Park) and we had almond croisants and fresh fruit for breakfast.
Tomorrow I'm off to Tower Hill for another course. The topic this time is changes to the Local Government Pension Scheme. We get breakfast and lunch which is an added bonus. I wish I'd remembered to bring the map home from work though.
I managed to pick up the wrong magazine in Tesco today. I've ended up with Star instead of my normal Heat. It's nowhere near as good, which isn't saying much. Another 99p wasted.
Skins was rather good last night. The guy who plays Maxxie is such an amazing dancer and it was good to see that they've written in a set of parents who are loving and not despised by their teenage offspring.
