Each week a staff bulletin is produced by the marketing department of my workplace. The bulletin features useful information, such as the canteen menu for the week, alongside articles about things which are perceived to be of interest to people working for the organisation. Next week I am one of the featured articles. I was interviewed about my uni course by the new chap from marketing and had my photo taken. I managed to convince my interviewer to take several photos and let me choose the best. The result wasn't at all bad. I've made it my new facebook userpic so those of you who are also my facebook friends can check it out on there. I expect to spend much of next week being stared at by people I've never met before because they saw me in the bulletin.

It's been ages since I updated here. What have I been doing...

Last Saturday I went out for drinks with someone I used to work with in a shop whilst I was doing my A-levels. I hadn't seen her for years before she found me on facebook. It was a very enjoyable Saturday night out. The scene in the main pub area of Twickenham was a bit worrying though. Normally the pubs of Twickenham are pretty crammed on a Saturday night even if there's no rugby on. On this occasion there were more staff than customers in The Cabbage Patch. Although it was nice to be able to sit in a virtually deserted beer garden and have a chat, I can't imagine how the pub could have made any money that night. I don't know whether it was because it was bank holiday weekend or whether the smoking ban has hit hard. Anyhow, I like the range of pubs in Twickenham and I hope they survive. The friend I met is engaged now. Her engagment ring is beautiful and unusual. I was suitably jealous.

This Tuesday my 5 best girlfriends are coming round to drink the rather expensive bottle of champagne I was given for passing my uni course. Then on Thursday I'm off to the Questors theatre in Ealing to see an amateur production of 'Donkeys Years' with my parents. I haven't been there before and I'm looking forward to it.

I am utterly sick of the adverts for High School Musical 2 which seem to appearing in every ad break at the moment. It's now ten past eleven at night and there were two adverts for the blasted thing in an ad break on E4. Surely a vast majority of their target audience are in bed by now and even if they were still awake I doubt they'd be watching a repeat of the 100 greatest music videos of all time on E4. I didn't like the first High School Musical very much. It seemed to me to be a sickly sweet version of Grease with all the good/exciting stuff taken out. However, my 7-11 years old Brownies loved it. Nearly all of them seemed to get either the CD or DVD for Christmas last year. Admittedly, I'd rather they were watching HSM rather then Grease as its clearly more 'suitable'. I hope they don't think secondary school is really like HSM though. In my experience it was much more like Grease.

Only one week to go until my running debut. I went out running for the first time in ages today and I didn't manage anything like 5K. My hayfever is playing up and I'm having trouble breathing. Grrr. At least my mother has great faith in me. When I asked her to guess how long it would take me to run 5K she said about an hour and a half! If it takes me more than 40 minutes I'm giving up. I hope it'll take about 30-40 minutes. Fingers crossed that it doesn't rain and that it's not too hot.

I've watched the first two episodes of Skins since the last time I updated. It's really quite good. I wish I'd got round to finishing the TV series about out of control youth I started writing when I was at school. I'm great at starting things but hopeless at finishing them. The series was basically wish fulfillment. I was very quiet, shy and studious at school. I was never in a position to hang out with the popular kids and I certainly never got invited to the wild parties. In response I started writing a Grange Hill style TV series in which I got to do all the things I wished I was confident enough to do in real life. When I started seeing the evil ex-boyfriend my life became more interesting and I lost interest in the writing. Shame.

Brian won Big Brother 8 in the end. I'm glad as the twins are bound to make more money from the media. I didn't really follow the series and I'm glad it's over. Perhaps we'll get some decent TV back now.

Talking of decent TV, Hollyoaks was rather good on Friday. It was very clever of the storyliners to throw in the story about Rhys' paternity in order to make it more likely that the Ashworth family wouldn't twig that Hannah was anorexic. I hope that Hannah recover from her illness and gets it on with Gilly. They would make a lovely couple. Ohhh, and Darren seems to be becoming a nice person now he's with Zoe. It's clear that Zoe should really be with Zac though. And Kris is returning soon. What will happen between him and Jessica. It is probably a very poor reflection on my life that I care so much about this.
