I got home from work a bit early on Friday and caught Home and Away for the first time in ages. I hardly recognised any of the cast and the plot was ludicrous but I was excited to see that Callen Mulvey is in it at the moment. It's got to be said that he was looking a bit rough but I guess this could be deliberate as he's playing an evil criminal. I was never into Heartbreak High when it was originally shown as it was on BBC2 between 6pm and dinner, a time when my dad was firmly in command of the TV. I only started following it when it was shown as part of BBC morning kids shows during the school holidays. I remember watching loads of episodes in the summer between A'Levels and university - about the same time that I got into The Tribe. I think Drazic was the first person I ever saw with a pierced eyebrow. Now I feel old. All the blokes I fancied as a teenager look ancient now.
As I have no social life at the moment I've been following 'Any Dream will Do.' I have a soft spot for 'Joseph' as I appeared in a school production of it back in 1995. I was in the chorus as usual. Anyhow, after last weeks episode I googled 'Joseph' and discovered that there is a touring production going on at the moment. Who should be playing one of the brothers but someone I appeared in many school plays with. Anthony Wren was always talented, particularly as a dancer. He was one of the stars whilst I loitered in the background but he was always kind and chatty. He almost lost his chances of a showbiz career altogether when he was 16 as he had his tonsils out which messed up his singing voice. I'm so pleased that he's making a living out of his talent. So many talented people appeared in school plays with me but most of them didn't pursue it and are doing normal jobs now. It's always good to see people from my school (which is in the bottom 10 schools in London for results) doing well. Other sucessful people include the actress Claire Murphy and runner Mo Farrah.
On an unconnected topic, I'm trying to get fit. I've never been fit in my life so it seems like as good a time as any to start. I went for my first ever run today. I only ran for 15 minutes but I thought I'd better start gently in case I did myself an injury. I also did a stretch and tone video. Hopefully, I didn't upset the people in the flat below to much with my stomping about!
I'm still enjoying retro kids TV on YouTube. It's so good seeing clips of Phillip, Andy and Andi in the broom cupboard. I'd almost forgotten how amateurish it all was in those days. Phillip clearly puts the programmes on to air in his clips. Must invest in broadband so I can watch some of the longer clips.
