i_just_hide: (Dexter Fletcher - Tube Tales)

I spent a majority of last week sitting in my flat revising.  As a result I've felt lazy and, as I'm a massive fidgit, had a lot of excess energy to expend.  Normally, I just go for a walk round the corner to the shops but on Thursday I decided to try something different.  I went down to the postboxes in the lobby, picked up my post and then ran up all the stairs from the ground floor up to the sixth floor.  This left me out of breath and in need of a sit down but the view was nice.  I'd never been up to the top floor of my building before and you could see a really long way.  Admittedley, the best view was of Heathrow Airport which isn't my idea of fun and the view of Central London was completely obscured by the twelve storey hotel across the road but hey this is social housing and beggers can't be choosers.  Anyway, that was a very long introduction into me discovering why my TV reception has been on the blink since the very windy day the other week.  The communal aerial had blown over and was pointing through the roof of number 91!  Fortunately, it looked like the only damage was a few cracked tiles but it certainly explained my recent problems.  Oddly, ITV1 reception had been better than ever during this period.  Maybe, number 91 have a secret ITV1 transmitter in their flat!  I went up to take a photo of the damage for project 365 on Friday and it had been repaired so I ended up taking a picture of the lillies I was given for my birthday instead.  Good TV reception though, now I've got no time to watch it :(

Now, I don't normally talk about politics and current affairs in this journal.  I tend to save it for more mundane aspects of my everyday life.  However, I had to comment on the news bulletin I saw yesterday evening.  There was a news item about the recent problems with prison overcrowding and sex offenders being let out on bail etc. etc.  This was followed by an item saying that the guys who were involved with tapping the phones of the Royal family on behalf of 'The News of the World' have been jailed for 4 and 6 months respectively.  Surely they could've thought of a more appropriate punishment for those two twits to enable some cells to be freed up for real  criminals.  As far as I could tell they're not dangerous.  Couldn't they have sentenced them to having to do a proper, worthwhile and preferably unpleasant job for the next few months instead?  I always thought that about 'Lord' Archer too.  I reckon a couple of years working in a sewage works or as a cleaner would've taught him more than a prison stay ever could.

Went to see my parents for dinner today.  My uncle (aged 76) had an operation on his hand on Wednesday and is temporarily unable to do most things at present.  At least he's alright though.  Whilst I was there I took a photo of the yellow and orange room for project 365 as I wanted to show Keladeekadys.  He recently did an meme and said that the colour he saw me as was orangy yellow which is odd as my PC used to be in an orange and yellow room before I moved here.  Spooky!  The photo will go up on Friday as usual.

It's 1.51am and I'm still up as BBC2 have rescheduled 'Family Guy' to 1.55am in order to show some Boxing.  Tut.  I'm particularly cross because I don't like boxing.  I do however like watching figure skating which was on earlier today.  We have a great Ice Dancing pair now who were fifth in the European championships.  I hope they keep on improving.

Only one day to the exams now and I'm scared :(
