It's official, I'm a walking disaster...
Sep. 29th, 2006 09:59 pmI've been refused income protection insurance by the Norwich Union on health grounds. I'm allowed to apply again in a year. This is what you get for being honest in a medical interview. In general I'm very healthy, I've just had quite a few minor health problems over the years. What I can't understand is that none of my ongoing health problems have caused me to take time off work so why have they refused the cover? In the last two years I've taken 4 days off of work spread over three occasions. The first was a mega nasty stomach bug which went around my family and then everyone at work. The second time I had a fever and spent the day in bed and the third time was another random stomach bug which made me sick and dizzy. I've never had time off as a result of IBS or joint pains which are my biggest health problems at present. The only reason I went to the doctors about them was to ensure I didn't have anything serious wrong with me. Grrrrr. Now I'm nervous. One in nine women develops breast cancer according to the front page of today's 'Independent'. If I get sick I only get 2 months full pay and two months half pay from work, after that I'll lose my home. Mum is really cross because I was honest but I didn't see the point in lying. They don't pay out if they find that you didn't confess to something during the medical even if it's not connected.
