I've survived another birthday! I'm 25 years old now and boy do I feel ancient. Had a delicious meal at Strada with friends last night. There were only 8 of us in the end. Three people dropped out over the course of last week, one cried off sick yesterday at about 4 o'clock and my best mate from school got stuck in traffic on the M25 and missed the meal. Wore my lovely new (ish) distressed leather shoes for the first time and they were plesantly comfortable. Made an idiot of myself by ordering red wine when I wanted rose as I'd misread the Italian menu. All in all it was a good evening. Uni really tired me out during the day so I wasn't in a fit state for a wild night out. Got some great presents from my friends and £50 from my parents to put towards my MP3 player if I ever manage to decide which one I want! Cardiff bloke sent me a blue note jazz CD which my mum desperately wants to steal! I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but my parents will be eternally grateful to Cardiff bloke if he manages to convert me to being a jazz fan. They started taking me to jazz gigs when I was 7 or 8 years old and I've never been that interested in it all.

I'm waiting for an update to my anti virus software to download at the moment which is seriously slowing up my PC. The download started at 4.30pm. It's nearly 6.30pm now and it's still only 40% complete. I really need to think about getting broadband.

My first essay was handed back to me on Monday night. I got 68% which is a high merit grade and it had been marked down from 70% which is a distinction. The whole thing was quite embarrassing as 15 of the 45 people on the course had failed the essay (mark of 50% or less) and most of them seemed to be sitting in the same area of the room as me. I could see my essay right at the bottom of the pile when the lecturer walked in so I had an anxious wait whilst everyone else got their's back. When I saw the grade I quickly looked and stashed it in the back of my file before anyone else saw it and hated me forever! I just hope I do well in the forthcoming exams and assignment so I get a good overall grade for stage one. Stage two starts on 30th January and it should be more interesting as it's directly related to HR work.

Uni yesterday was tough. We arrived at 10am and started straight away, working through to 12.40pm with only a 5 minute tea break. At 12.40 we had half an hour for lunch which didn't give us enough time to go anywhere to get anything much to eat. After lunch we worked solidly until ten to four. It was a bit daft really as everyone had obviously lost concentration around about 2.30pm so everything after that was probably a bit of a waste of time.

The virus software download is preventing me from booking myself and Cardiff blokes weekend away in February. I've found a nice looking hotel which I'm going to try and book. According to the website it's just off of the M4 and five minutes drive from Bath so It'll be a good train journey for me and a simple drive for him. It's more important that it's a good journey for Cardiff Bloke as he's coming from work whereas I've got the Friday off. The only problem is that it's one of the nearest weekends to Valentines Day and it's half term so the prices are much higher than normal. This will be the first time we've been away together. I hope it works out well. There's a pub in the grounds of the Hotel so Cardiff Bloke should be happy and he'll have somewhere to escape to if I drive him mad.

Not a good week for 'Press Gang' cast member spottings. To be honest I haven't watched much TV. I even missed 'Second Thoughts' on Saturday as I was at Uni. 'Hotel Babylon' starts this week though so guaranteed sightings of Dexter Fletcher (hopefully using his own accent) for the next few weeks. It looks like gloriously light and tacky TV so, touch wood, I'll enjoy it.
