Nov. 9th, 2003 06:47 pmLots has happened since I last wrote. None of it's been very exciting but still...
On Friday night my sister and I went to Ikea in Croydon to try and buy her a table for her new computer to sit on. It turned out to be a bit of a wasted visit but I still enjoyed myself as I hadn't been to Ikea for about three years. We didn't buy the table as it was £30 but it would've cost £50 to have it delivered. I really need to learn how to drive! I ended up buying her a watering can and a plastic bin for her bathroom and spending £3.50 on a cushion for myself. We'd been planning on having dinner there but the resturant was closed for refurbishment so we couldn't do that either! It wasn't all bad though: it was our first ever trip on the Croydon tramlink which was interesting and we got to have a proper chat for the first time in ages. The tram is like a cross between a bus and a train. I don't know what it's like closer to Croydon, as we only went a few stops, but the bit we went on didn't go along the road like most trams (Blackpool & Sheffield spring to mind) but went alongside roads and stopped in mini stations. Much better than travelling by bus because it didn't get stuck in traffic but a bit bumpy standing up.
Also on Friday, I taught the new boy in the office to register IPPs. I learnt my lesson from when I trained the guy from CEO and told him to make lots of notes and he seemed to get the hang of it really quickly. More brownie points to go towards the promotion bid although I get the feeling my line manager thinks what I wrote on my application form's a bit rubbish.
Now I've got a bit of cash for the first time in ages I've been spending it on the net. I bought the first series of The Tribe on DVD, I'll write more about that another time, and a second hand cross stitch book which was a total bargain at £3.45 + p&p as it was £13.99 new.
Yesterday I made an orange cake out of the Mary Berry book I borrowed from the library. It turned out quite well except the glace icing all dribbled off. One day I'll get glace icing right! Next week I'm going to make coffee cake so wish me luck!
