Tomorrow evening I'm due to attend a ceremony in Central London to find out whether my team has won an award. The awards are only given out once every three years so it's quite a big deal for us. I decided to mark the occasion by getting a new dress which my parents' have agreed to pay for as a Christmas gift. It is bright red and will be a brilliant contrast to the black and grey business suits everyone else is sure to be wearing. Today I had a day off work and went and went and bought new shoes (black patent, very classy), earrings, a bracelet and pashmina. I tried on the whole outfit this evening and was pretty pleased with the result. However, the evening is now in jeopardy. It's been snowing here most of the day but it hadn't settled. Now it's starting to settle. Even in unlikely places such as the middle of the main road. If London is under snow tomorrow the award ceremony may not even take place. If it does go ahead we may not be able to go either because we can't get there or we're afraid of not being able to get back. I have my fingers and toes crossed that it doesn't snow too much overnight. I want my sophisticated evening out!
This evening I watched 'Brick' my latest Lovefilm delivery. I thought it was pretty good although I started watching it whilst doing my ironing which wasn't ideal. The movie is very visual and you really need to concentrate on it fully. I watched the second bit whilst doing my nails which was better. The idea behind 'Brick' is interesting. It's basically an old fashioned detective story but set in a US high school. I got some of the twists before they were revealed but not all of them. It was very well acted as I expected. Joseph Gordon-Levitt starred and he's always good. I must remember to add 'Inception' to my Lovefilm wishlist.
Friday is our big whole organisation Christmas party. Let's hope I manage to keep my dignity a bit better than I did at the summer party. People are under strict instructions to drag me off of the dancefloor if I show any interest in strutting my stuff to Vanilla Ice or MC Hammer! I will also be avoiding the wine table and sticking to lager. Wine seems to be the route to my downfall (literally sometimes!) in work social situations.
