Things I have been doing lately...
Nov. 15th, 2010 10:03 pmI really should get back into the habit of updating this LJ regularly. I'm now really behind and don't have time to write about everything. So here's the last month in my life the lazy way.
- Had Sunday lunch on a steam train on the Watercress Line to celebrate my dad's 65th birthday and retirement and my uncle's 80th birthday.
- Attempted to visit the Museum of Everything exhibition in Camden with my teacher friend during half term. Failed because it doesn't open on Mondays. Went to the National Portrait Gallery and looked at Tudor paintings instead.
- Had 'Dr Watson's Favourite' (sausage and mash) at a Sherlock Holmes themed pub near Charing Cross station. Which was random.
- Walked out of the West End production of 'Birdsong' during the second interval/moment of reflection about the Battle of the Somme. Yes, it really was that dreadful. It featured unintentionally funny sex scenes and everything.
- Didn't walk out of a very funny amateur production of 'A Flea in her Ear' at the Questors Theatre in Ealing. The guy playing the madly jealous Spanish husband was brilliant.
- Went to see the amazing free firework display at Clapham Common. This is the fourth year that I've been to see a free firework display in the London Borough of Lambeth despite having never paid Council Tax there. Thank you people of Lambeth! Then went for pizza with my lovely friend and her partner.
- Travelled over to Oxford to meet up with the girls I lived with in my second year at uni. Had lunch in a fabulous 'gastropub', admired a baby bump and caught up with all their news. They are fabulous. I'm such a lucky girl to have such great friends even if I don't get to see them as often as I'd like.
- Met up with my sister for the first time in ages and swapped stories of recent life dramas.
- Attended a drinks party for my director's 60th birthday along with about 100 other people. Was very well behaved despite the fact there was a tab ;)
- Signed up to Last FM and rediscovered bands I'd totally forgotten about.
- Dressed up for an 80s themed 30th birthday party. Had to give up on initial plan of dressing up as Jem from Jem and Holograms due to the fact I couldn't get hold of a suitable pink wig. Decided to go 'generic 80s party girl' instead. Wore the most amazing pink neon lipstick with excessive amounts of turquoise eye shadow. Didn't sing karaoke. The birthday girl was dressed as Supergirl and had a great time.
