i_just_hide: (Human Traffic - Paranoia)
I have to confess that I'm not a regular listener to BBC 6 Music.  I don't listen to the radio much in general these days and I'm not a great fan of guitar music.  Many of my work colleagues are getting involved with the various campaigns to save 6 Music and I totally support them.  In my opinion it's a much needed resource amongst a vast number of dreadful, annoying advert ridden general pop stations which mainly pay irritating generic R&B (yes, Jason Derulo I mean you).  Personally, I'd still rather listen to Radio 1 or 1 Xtra.

On Friday evening the TV in the gym had been tuned to 6 Music and Andrew Collins was standing in for Steve Lamaq.  He was trying to play a song by each of the bands mentioned in a song by another band (I can't remember which band or which song).  One of the bands was the Sex Pistols.  He announced that the song was 'Bodies' when he actually played 'New York'.  Mr Collins then exacerbated his mistake by apologising for not taking the offensive language out of 'Bodies'.  Tut!  Not a good advert for a station selling itself as being a real music station staffed by real DJs.

I am currently listening to 'System Addict' by 5star on Spotify by the way.  I don't think I could ever convince anyone I was a fan of real music.  These days I feel like you have to 'come out' as a fan of the sort of music I like.  I confessed my love of late 90s UK Garage music to my boss the other day.  I feel better now I've got it off my chest but I feel my reputation has probably been knocked down a few pegs.  Before anyone comments, I'm fully aware that 5star is no UK Garage music.  It reminds me of my happy childhood though.
