Oh no!

Tomorrow is my work leaving do.  Setting it up has been a nightmare.  I originally planned to hold it on Friday 29 May to coincide with the Staff Association end of month drinks.  Then I found out that it clashed with Strategic Planning Day and lots of people would be having a posh dinner in Teddington instead.  Strike 1.  I then planned to re-schedule for Friday 12 June (which is the day I'm actually leaving).  This time it clashed with the birthday party of someone who used to work with us and one of my very close colleagues decided to fly off to Florida on holiday this Thursday.  Strike 2.  I then settled on Wednesday 10 June.  The simple plan was to go down the pub for 6pm and have a few drinks then move on to Richmond for food at 8ish.  I then found out that this clashed with college open evening and the creative arts week fashion show so many people wouldn't be able to make it until later in the evening.  By this time it wasn't possible to re-schedule again as I'd literally run out of dates I could make so I decided that I'd go down the pub with my team for 6pm, eat there and wait for everyone else to arrive after they'd finished work.  Then on Monday I was informed that England are playing a World Cup qualifier on Wednesday.  The pub will be full of beered up blokes watching a noisy football match.  It's getting to the point where organising the leaving do has been more stressful than the actual leaving!

To add to my worries I now seem to have picked up a stomach bug.  I had some stomach problems on Sunday night which kept me awake but I blamed it on having lamb for dinner.  I was still having problems yesterday, which was a shame as it ruined my enjoyment of the lovely dinner my friend cooked for me.  Since then it's got worse and worse.  I hope it's sorted itself out a bit by tomorrow or I might not enjoy my leaving do either.
