r_scribbles for tea and cakes. For some reason we began discussing those bafflingly enduring kids TV stars known as The Chuckle Brothers. r_scribbles informed me that Chucklevision is still be shown on Kids TV. I asked whether she remembered the time before Chucklevision when the Chuckle Brothers were known as The Chuckle Hounds. She had no recollection of this. I've asked many people of my age the same question and thus far I have not discovered a single other person who remembers The Chuckle Hounds. In fact the only person who can remember them is my mum. This did not fill me with confidence as, frankly, we are as batty as one another! I wondered whether we had imagined The Chuckle Hounds.
Anyway, this evening I flicked channels during the commercial break on ITV2 (where I was watching Britannia High - more about that later) and found myself watching 'The 50 most Annoying Celebrity Couples' on BBC3 (and they say the licence fee is squandered!) Lo and behold, which celebrity couple should be next in line to be mocked by a load of smug small time comedians and such luminaries as Nikki form Big Brother? Yes, it was the Chuckle Brothers. In the course of the mocking they showed a clip of The Chuckle Hounds. It was just a few seconds but enough to convince me that I hadn't been imagining things. I Googled this evening and there is even a web page dedicated to them chucklebrothers.bravehost.com/ChuckleHounds.html You have to scroll down the page a bit to find the only pictorial evidence. I must say that I'm suprised anyone has bothered creating a Chuckle Brothers fansite but each to their own I guess.
I'm still trying to find evidence of TTV -Tea Time Television (with the puppet cat sitting on top of the chest of drawers introducing shows such as Top of the Mops). I really should get a life (or do some ironing - my ironing pile is terrifying).
