Ode to a old and faithful friend...
Dec. 27th, 2007 10:47 pmI'm home. I survived Christmas. The portable TV in my old bedroom at my parents' place sadly did not. The tube blew up yesterday. I resorted to playing PS1 on their antique black and white which is so old that you tune it with a dial. I'm a bit sad about the demise of the portable as it was my first TV. I didn't have a TV of my own until I went away to university and it was my faithful companion all the way through. It was whilst watching it that I learnt about the delights of late night TV and got hooked on Rwnd a Rwnd (omnibus shown with English subtitles on a Sunday morning after Hollyoaks). I inherited it from my younger sister and when I put the batteries in the remote control I realised that it had a sticker on the back saying "I pick my nose". Happy memories. Now it is going to its final resting place - the tip. I have moved on to bigger and better things but I will never forget sitting in my tiny room in halls holding my TV ariel at a 45 degree angle in order to try and get enough Channel 5 reception to follow series two of The Tribe.
