Something genuinely interesting, exciting and out of the ordinary happened at work yesterday and I chose to post a complaint about repetitive plotlines in Holby City. Duh!
Yesterday afternoon at around 4pm we were working away as usual when we heard a tremendously loud noise which suggested that a low flying helicopter was very nearby. We couldn't see anything out of the window so we assumed that it must be directly over our building. Then my boss rushed out of her office which faces the other direction, said that an air ambulance was flying low overhead and asked one of my colleagues to go outside and have a look to make sure everything was OK. It turned out that there had been an accident in a block of flats nearby and our site was the only place in the locality where there was space for a helicopter to land. It certainly created a great deal of excitment amongst the staff and students. I wished I'd stuck at doing project 365 and had my camera with me.
In other news, the painted New York skylines you can see out of the office windows in Ugly Betty are beginning to irritate me immensely. I would find the programme much more enjoyable if it was actually filmed in New York, I'm sure.
Ooooh, and Neighbours will be moving (geddit!) to Channel 5. It's the end of an era. I started watching Neighbours when I was 6 or 7 and it was only shown at lunchtime. When I was a primary school my dad used to arrive home from work between 5.30pm and 6pm and me and my sister had to ensure that one of us was in the living room for the duration of the show so my dad didn't have a chance to turn the TV over. No doubt five will gain higher viewing figures by showing it but I think it will lose many viewers overall. Home and Away never really recovered from it's move to five. It's a shame that people's enjoyment of the show may be ruined by TV politics.
