Bits and pieces, bits and bobs...
Feb. 3rd, 2007 12:16 amSaw a trailer for the new series of Hotel Babylon for the first time this evening. Dexter looking lovely and Max Beesley looking pretty good too. Also appears that there are some interesting guest stars. I spotted Chantelle and Preston, David Walliams and Kacey Ainsworth. Why is so much good TV coming on when I have so much uni work to do. By the time I've finished my course in July there'll be nothing on at all and I'll have to go out and pay for something to keep me entertained :(
Valentines Day misery has caught me early this year. My friend, who works in PR, has sent me a questionnaire about buying Valentines cards. I started completing it and realised that I haven't sent a Valentines card since 1997 (to a gorgeous sixth former - he obviously didn't work out who it was though as no declarations of undying love were forthcoming!) and I haven't received once since 1996. This is not a good record in my opinion. Last year I was seeing someone and he sent me a Valentines text message (I sent him one first). To make me feel even more miserable this year, three of my single friends have now coupled up. I now officially only have three 100% single friends in real life. Oh well. Mum keeps saying "you'll never meet anyone unless you actually go somewhere" which is true, but where on earth do you go to meet a partner? My friends keep meeting people at work which is unlikely to happen with me. HR people are pretty much excluded from workplace relationships unless they're with other HR people. As there is only one male in my office and he is happily married with children (and is much too old for me anyway) I need to investigate other avenues.
On a relationship downer, I decided to look up an ex last night. He has a kind of blogging thing on WAYN a site for backpackers. I really don't want to get in touch with him. He's a nice guy but we were utterly incompatible when it came down to it. I think I scared the hell out of him to be quite honest! I was still tempted though. Tut.
I'm excited that the date for the final Harry Potter book has been announced. It's being released in July 2007 so I'll probably get to read it in July 2009 as I'm tight and always wait for books to come out in paperback before I buy them. Also, I have all the others in paperback so one hardback would mess up the aesthetics of the set on my bookshelf! The main problem with waiting is that I have to shield myself from any discussions about the book. TV discussions and websites can be easily avoided. Random conversations on buses and in the canteen at work are a bit trickier.
Still on a Harry Potter track. I'm feeling a bit sorry for Daniel Ratcliffe at the moment. I saw some news stories about parents being angry that he has appeared nude in a play. I can see both sides of the story. Obviously parents don't want their impressionable tweens being exposed (in a very literal sense) to pics of 'Harry Potter' in his birthday suit. On the other hand Daniel is a person in his own right and I can sympathise with wanting to do something other than HP. He is only 17 and presumably doesn't want to retire at the age of 21 after the final movie comes out. Doing HP he always ran the risk of being seriously typecast. Doing a Peter Schaffer play (I love Peter Schaffer - he wrote 'Black Comedy' one of my favourite plays of all time) seems a great way of 'proving' himself. It's a difficult one.
There will be another set of Project 365 pics soon. I need to remember to upload them FlickR one by one, otherwise it takes absolutely ages. I've been remembering to take a picture a day though which is pretty good for someone who can't normally remember what day it is.
I don't know what the alarm going off outside my flat belongs to but I hope it shuts up soon. I want to go to bed. (obviously I hope it's not someone's car being stolen too)
