Out of the ashes...
Mar. 29th, 2006 08:56 pmSeveral things are annoying me at the moment:
1. I have a mouth ulcer on the bit where the roof of my mouth turns into my throat. It is making hot meals much less enjoyable.
2. Livejournal is blocked at work as it is apparantly a potential source of indecent material. This means that I miss all the decent discussions on 'holding on' and only get to reply to comments when the person who commented has forgotten about them.
3. This PC is so flippin' slow. It takes 10 minutes to load a page these days. Grrrr. If I'm brave enough to face a big shop on my own I'll buy my new one on Sunday. Maybe my sister will keep me company if I ask her very, very nicely.
OK, my moan is now complete so I'll return to my normal ramblings.
I've treated myself to a paid account so that I can have lots more lovely icons. One of my aims for this weekend is to make at least a couple and borrow a few from one of the icon sharing communities. There are also lots of other new things to try but I haven't had time to research them yet. I thought about changing my journal layout but decided that I really like the one I have so I'm going to leave it as it is for now.
Oooh, Cardiff Bloke texted on Monday night and told me that someone has been arrested in connection with breaking his car window when we were in Wales. I was pretty suprised as I honestly didn't think the police bothered catching criminals any more. Maybe that's just in London though.
The borough psychologist saw Grandad yesterday. Mum and Dad said that he coped very well with being asked lots of questions. He started every answer with 'what a sort of stupid question is that to ask...' and went on to answer most questions correctly. The psychologist commented that Grandad is 'a very angry man' which is entirely accurate but other then that he concluded that he was OK mentally. He probably can't remember things because the cancer is making him anaemic which means his brain isn't getting good quality blood. The carer (a lovely Polish girl, according to Mum) has now been instructed to make sure Grandad takes his iron pills every morning.
Tomorrow nights entertainment is a trip to see the Richmond Shakespeare Society doing an Oscar Wilde play. Unfortunately, I've forgotten the title but I'm sure I'll enjoy it as I love Oscar Wilde plays and RSS are one of the best amateur theatre companies in London. Its been ages since my last visit to the theatre so it'll make a nice change from watching TV and doing uni work.
Talking about the theatre has just reminded me of something. A couple of years ago I went to see a revival of an 18th century at the Orange Tree Theatre in Richmond. The Orange Tree is 'in the round' and we were sitting on the balcony. Lo and behold, who should sit directly opposite me but Alan Rickman! It wasn't a big suprise to see a star watching a play in Richmond as loads of actors live in the area but it was really distracting throughout the play as it was dark and I kept having to take sneaky looks to try and confirm whether it was him! Last time my parents went to the Orange Tree they saw him again so he must be a regular. I'm thinking of this because AR was being discussed on 'holding on' a while ago.
I'm going to miss Lee Ross in The Family Man again.
violetcreme said it was boring anyway. I hope I'll catch the final episode next week.
New series of 'Green Wing' starts on Friday. Hopefully, it'll be as good as the first series and brighten up my Friday nights for the next few weeks.
