Doh!

My Oyster Card hasn't been working properly for a couple of weeks and it's getting to the stage that it's quite annoying. It's not so annoying for me but it must be driving the people stuck behind me as I frantically swipe the thing a million times crazy. I've just been informed by the tfl website that I should go to a tube station and complete a 'damaged card' form. Now I'm really fed up as Monday is the only day I travel by tube so I'm stuck with a dodgy card for another week. Why didn't I check out what to do before I travelled like any sensible person would have done?

On a happier note I really enjoyed my day out in London on Sunday. We went to the London Aquarium and to the Dali Experience for just over a tenner each with 2 for 1 if you travel by train deals. I'd been to the London Aquarium before but it was over five years ago so I didn't remember much about it. We went to a talk about rainforest dwelling fish which included watching the piranhas being fed. They're really funny to watch as they float incredibly still until the keeper puts the food into the tank and then they go manic. Before the talk I hadn't realised that there was such a thing as a vegetarian piranha but I know better now. The aquarium kept us busy for an hour and a half although we probably would've stayed longer if it hadn't been full of kids taking part in an arts and crafts day. I managed to resist the temptation to have my face painted as one of the characters from 'Finding Nemo!'

The Dali Experience was interesting as although I've been to the Dali Theatre Museum near Barcelona I'd never seen an exhibition of his work with extensive explanation cards in English. My friend is a big Dali fan and there was loads to see so she was happy. My favourite works were the huge bronzes featuring the fluid clocks. Surrealists such as Dali interest me as they were generally immensely talented conventional artists but chose to push the boundaries instead of playing it safe. At the Dali Experience there were some beautifully detailed pen and ink sketches next to drawings which looked like they could've been done by an out of control child with a glitter pen.

Studied critical reading at uni today. It suprises me how few people turn up to classes these days. I'm the only person who has attended every lesson out of a class of over twenty. We're almost all sponsored by our employers to the tune of £4K so it shocks me that people bunk off. I'd be terrified that my bosses would find out and I'd be up on a disciplinary.

Today is Cardiff Bloke's 30th birthday. I haven't heard from him so I hope he's out having a good time. At least he's got his pressie from me this time.

Have been talking to ex Plymouth housemate on MSN. He is buying a semi in Reading. Cardiff Bloke was suggesting that I should ditch him and shack up with ex Plymouth housemate. Now there's even more reason to do so! Could probably commute to work from Reading in reasonable time too... Nope, don't think I could get romantically involved with ex housemate. Not my type.

Watched the beginning of 'Secrets and Lies' which I've seen several times before on More4 this evening. Was really watching to catch a glimpse of Lee Ross (Kenny from Press Gang) as last time I saw the movie was before my Pressgang fandom began. Lee wasn't in the first hour much so all I came away thinking was that Marie Jean-Baptiste is wasting her talent in 'Without a Trace'. She's probably making stacks of cash though so good luck to her.
