Back at Uni again so taking advantage of the free computers. My home PC is up and running again but internet access is so much quicker here. Bit of a change of scenery this week as my usual half empty PC room of choice is being used for a lesson so I've moved into one of the other six half empty open access PC rooms TVU has to offer! The University seems to have sprung back to life this week. There are 5 other people in this room of 15 PCs!

Before I start I'd better warn everyone that this is going to be a long entry. I may put in cuts at a later date but I've forgotten how to do them and my list of LJ coding is at home.

First I'd better talk a bit about my weekend away with Cardiff Bloke. All in all it was a very enjoyable break. We stayed in a small spa hotel in the valleys with an award winning restaurant. The room was well worth the extra £10 per night I paid as an upgrade from standard: massive bed, comfy sofa, plenty of space and an ensuite was as big as our bathroom at home. Cardiff Bloke kindly collected me from Cardiff Central Station on Friday night and gave me a lift to the hotel to save me having to get a local train to Merthyr. I'm a city girl whose not used to places where there is no digital radio reception and (to my horror) no street lamps so it was a bit of a scary journey for me. Having arrived safely we checked into the hotel and went to dinner. This was where I made my first mistake of the weekend. Against my better judgement I chose a dairy heavy meal (chicken supreme stuffed with stilton followed by cheesecake) which wasn't good for my poorly stomach. I suffer from IBS which flares up when I'm stressed and is exacerbated by eating lots of dairy. I was stressed out as I was nervous about seeing Cardiff Bloke again after such a long time (almost a year) so my stomach wasn't feeling too great when I arrived. After dinner we watched some really, really terrible TV and went to bed.

On Saturday I asked Cardiff Bloke to show me some countryside so he took me on a scenic drive to Brecon. When we went down into the valley it was really misty so there weren't any opportunities for sightseeing. It was also very cold and I wasn't dressed for winter. We ended up getting back in the car, driving back to the hotel and spending the day watching the winter Olympics and reading the papers. We did however see some Ghurka's (I'm sorry if I've spelt this wrong) in Brecon, probably due to the fact there's a big army base there.

On Sunday morning we were woken up by reception informing us that someone had broken into Cardiff Bloke's car in the hotel car park. Investigation showed that they had smashed the passenger window but not taken anything. We had to wait for the police and scene of crime officers before we could leave. Driving back to Cardiff (40 miles or so) is a car with a window missing was a cold experience but we arrived safely and I was back in London by 4pm.

As I said, I'd been nervous about seeing Cardiff Bloke again but once we were together it was like old times. He was really lovely to me. The only problem was that he was poorly with a bad chest making it very difficult for me to leave him again. I hate leaving people on their own when they're ill. A text the other night informed me that he's feeling better now though.

Now, where should we go for our next trip? I've already got a few ideas.

In other news, grandad's care package has been cancelled as he kept refusing the carer access to his home. Now he's had some hospital treatment, including a blood transfusion, grandad feels better and doesn't think that he needs a carer. This is despite the fact that he's very confused and phoned dad yesterday to ask what day it was. It's very disappointing for us as it took ages to get him assessed by social services and even longer to get him to accept the care package on offer. Now we're back to square one and it looks likely that he will end up in a nursing home despite our best efforts. He keeps saying to mum that it would be better if he killed himself as he's such a burden to us and she keeps trying to get him to accept that he would feel less of a burden if he made use of his carer! It's a no win situation.

To add to my nerves I am now under pressure to pick a topic for my Management Report. This is a 10,000 word report investigating an HR issue within the organisation I work for. I haven't a clue what I want to do so I need to get my thinking cap on, fast!

Only the normal 'Press Gang' spots this week. Dexter in 'Hotel Babylon' of course and Rosie Marcel failing to successfully reattach a severed arm in 'Holby City'.

Right, that's it for now. I'm off to do some work...
