The Christmas decorations are now up. Hooray! I predict that one will have fallen down by around midday on Monday. The smart money's on the hanging garland by the door as I nearly dislocated my thumb trying to push the drawing pin into the ceiling. When I was a kid my parents had a rule that we were only allowed to put the decorations up the weekend before Christmas. My sister and I used to complain loads because we were always the last in our respective classes to have our decorations up. Now I couldn't care less. I'm such a perfectionist that I find putting them up extremely stressful. Also, myself and my parents do not agree on much where Christmas decorations are concerned. They like to chuck as many different items in as many different colours as possible into the mix whereas I prefer subtle decorations (baubles, bells etc.) in traditional colours. When I worked at Homebase I managed to convince them to buy all new decorations using my staff discount card which improved the selection immensely. Now they are mainly red, gold and green and tasteful. Nowadays my main source of discomfort is the Christmas tree lights which are multicoloured and shaped like little lanterns! I hate them but my parents like them so it looks like I'll have to grin and bare them for now.

Work Christmas celebrations are over and done with for another year. This year I volunteered to help out with the food and drink which was good as it meant I got to chat briefly to everyone instead of getting stuck trying to make small talk with someone I had nothing in common with for half an hour. The staff pantomime was very funny once again. So many people turned up to watch that a fair number had to sit on the floor. I'd never be able to take part as everyone is always so good. Cardiff bloke is shocked that so little drinking goes on at our Christmas celebrations but I quite like it. I guess a lot of the departments go out and get drunk in their own little groups on other nights though. Our departmental meal is a (very festive) Thai on Monday lunch time. I'm looking forward too it as long as I don't have to use chopsticks. I can use them but I'm a slow eater at the best of times and chopsticks don't help matters!

Christmas shopping isn't going terribly well. I took the day off of work on Thursday and managed to get stuff from Argos when it was fairly civilised but I still have a lot more to get. As a result I'm going to end up shopping tomorrow which will probably be a stressful experience. I'm going to try and get into town early so I'm in a position to leave when it starts getting really manic. I still need to sort out pressies for my sister, my sister's boyfriend and my granddad. My biggest headache is finding a card with 'To my sister and her boyfriend' or 'To my sister and her partner' on the front. The few that I've seen are either too small or too cutesy. If I can't find one tomorrow I'll have to admit defeat and buy a separate one for each of them.

I've got a really cool present for Cardiff bloke. I can't say what it is in case he reads this but I like it a lot and I hope he does too. I've also got a funky gold jiffy bag to mail it to him in so I'll be posting it after work tomorrow night. That will be my last bit of Christmas posting and the only bit that I've had to send first class. Just call me super organised person!

My 'Press Gang' spot of the week was scuppered by the ITV schedulers. 'Nil by Mouth' in which Charlie Creed-Miles (who played Danny in series one, aged 16) appears was meant to be on ITV1 last night but when I tuned in 'Casino Royal' was being shown so I turned over and watched 'Saturday Night Fever' instead. However, Julia Sawalha did make a brief appearance in the terrible 'Greatest Party Songs' programme on BBC1 this evening. They showed the 'Ab Fab' scene in which Edina and Patsy are having a rave in the living room and Saffy gets out of bed to tell them to turn the music down. Interestingly, Julia seemed much more Lynda Day than Saffy in the scene. This was largely due to the fact that she was wearing pajamas, had loose hair and didn't have her glasses on. Also the scene is from the first series of Ab Fab which was filmed whilst Julia was still playing Lynda.

The second series of 'Arrested Development' has now finished. What am I going to watch on TV now? The trailers for 'Chopratown' look promising I guess. I'm not enjoying the latest series' of 'Little Britain' and 'The Worst Week of my Life' for some reason. I wish I'd written 'The Worst Week of my Life' though as the humour is so clever.

In the background I have an awful lot of revision to do. I'm probably not worrying about it as much as I should be.
