Aug. 12th, 2005 11:31 pmOh dear. Cardiff bloke has been reading my journal again. He's not very happy about me saying that we are about the same height. We argued about this via text messages last Saturday night. Let me put the record straight. I am approximately 5 feet and 7 inches tall which I believe is above average for a woman. Cardiff bloke is 5 feet and 9 inches tall which I believe is below average for a man. I don't believe that 2 inches is a significant height difference. I pointed out to him that I nearly always wear heals which make me the same height as him and he claimed that he can't remember me wearing heals. This is despite the fact that the last time I was in his flat he made a derogatory comment about my healed boots! All I can conclude from this is that Cardiff bloke doesn't pay a huge amount of attention to how tall I am and what I am wearing. Of course, this isn't much of a suprise as he is male!
Anyway, my original post was actually concerned with my favourite topic of the moment which is of course 'Press Gang'. All I was saying was that I'd watched so many episodes that I was starting to find Dexter Fletcher attractive. He is only five foot six and I was commenting that I end up fancying men who are below average height. I come from a tall family (I have female cousins who are over six foot and my mum is five foot eight and a half) so to me five foot nine is not tall. One positive thing I can say about Cardiff bloke is that he has never claimed to be six foot. I've known so many blokes over the years who have claimed to be six foot even though they blatently aren't!
It's funny how much taller people look on TV though. Julia Sawalha is only five foot two but I never would have guessed that. I guess it's due to good camera work and actors spending alot of time standing on boxes!
One of my uni friends has just got a job she really wanted. She and her boyfriend are moving down to London in September. I'm pleased for her, she deserved a opportunity to show what she can do in a permanent role as she has only been able to get temp work since graduating. Yet another happy couple nearby to give me (unwanted) sympathy about my love life and to offer "usefull" advice about finding a man. Joy.
I've been invited to a "Godfather" theme party. Yay! I haven't done the fancy dress thing for ages. As I haven't seen the Godfather movies I'll have to look on the internet to see what the women wore. I have a feeling fake fur and fake diamonds may be involved.
Parents are off to Sidmouth in Devon for two weeks holiday tomorrow. I hate it when they're away as I'm under pressure not to let the plants die and to make sure I don't do anything to let the house be burgled. If I ever live on my own I won't be doing so in a four bedroom family home, I can tell you that. Far too many curtains to open and close and wastepaper baskets to empty!
