Poorly

Mar. 19th, 2005 10:40 pm
Everyone seems to be poorly at the moment. A nasty cold is doing the rounds. I've got a sore throat and a head cold so I don't feel like doing much this weekend. I'm hoping that I'll be feeling better by Tuesday as I'm having the rest of the week off of work.

I watched Dr Who night on BBC2 earlier on. It was a bit lame really. Half way through the documentary I realised that I'd seen it before, but there was nothing else on so I persevered. I was suprised to discover that Colin Baker finished playing the Dr in 1986, when I was five years old, as I can remember him in the role. Maybe I remember seeing repeats. Sylvester McCoy is the only one I really remember of course, although the plug was pulled on him in 1988 so I'm equally suprised that I have such clear memories of him. The stories I remember are the one in which Bonnie Langford was the companion (we have a Sooty video from when we were kids with Bonnie as the guest star, how sad!), the one with the spooky cats and the one set by the coast during WW2 in which Ace comes accross her mother as a baby. I'll watch the first episode of the new incarnation if I'm in next Saturday. Although, having seen Billie Piper in 'The Canterbury Tales' I fear that her terrible acting will put me off of tuning in again.

Wales won the Six Nations Grand Slam for the first time in time in 25 years today. I bet it will be crazy in Cardiff tonight. There will be people with their faces painted red wielding inflatable daffodils everywhere! Rugby nights were the times that we were made to feel the most English in Cardiff. At the Union they would play Tom Jone, Shirley Bassey, The Stereophonics, The Manics and just about any other Welsh music act they could think of over and over again. I'm pleased for Welsh people tonight as everyone is really passionate about rugby in Wales and they deserve a good win to reward their support. We won't even mention England's performance this championship!
