Less than a week to go!!!!
Aug. 3rd, 2003 05:53 pmBefore I start on this week's events I'd like to thank Tom for answering the question I asked in my last post. I now know that the reason Windows Media Player reads the track listings on a CD sometimes and not others is because it reads them from a website!!! The simple answer to the question therefore is that when I'm hooked up to the net the track listings appear and when I'm not they don't!!! I told you I was rubbish with computers!!
Back to this week. As the title to this entry suggests there's less than a week to go until a seminal event in my life: my friend Polly's wedding. I have somthing to wear and a card. I'm not giving a pressie as they asked for money in addition to the contents of their two wedding lists and as a friend of my mums recently received 3 toasters despite writing a list I thought I'd try and make life a bit easier for them and write a cheque. I've also got my travel plans sorted. I'm meeting Lucy at Oxford Station on Saturday morning, going to her house to get changed and then she's driving me down to the wedding via Didcot Station where we're meeting Mel. The one big remaining problem is that I have no shoes to wear. I really wanted ones with heels but it seems that I may have to get flat ones after all.
The journey is already giving me nightmares. I looked it up on Autoroute yesterday and it said it'd take 1 and a half hours so I decided we'd probably be pretty safe if we gave it an hour extra. Then I spoke to Mel and she reckoned we were cutting it a bit fine so now I'm panicing because if it goes wrong it'll all be my fault. Aaarrrggghhh. I'm also not sure that I'm going to deal to well with possibly 2 and a half hours enclosed in a car with Mel and her tales of angst. I'll be on my best behaviour though, remembering that it's all to make Polly's day as perfect as possible.
On a different subject entirely, still more agro on the Cardiff bloke front. He texted me at 2.30am Saturday morning and I didn't reply. I was really tired and I've had a sore throat so I've been trying to get as much sleep as possible recently. I sent a reply on Saturday afternoon but he didn't get back to me. The whole thing's becoming a bit of a pain. I didn't mind the late night texts when he used to contact me during the day as well but I nowadays it really seems as if he only thinks of me in the early hours of the morning when he's drunk, bored, lonely and horny. Yet again I don't know what to do with the men in my life!!!
Work's still going well. I learnt another new task on Thursday and there's another schedule to be done on Monday. Hopefully, I'm well on my way to being promoted in three or four months time. The fact that I got paid on Friday has made me much happier about life. My aim is to stay in the black this month which'll be difficult with Emma's hen weekend and wedding coming up but if I take sandwiches to work and deny myself all luxuaries whilst my parents are away I think I'll manage or be very close at least. Annoyingly I discovered on Friday that I should've told the VO that I had a student loan when I joined so now I'll be getting a hefty bill in a few months time when the paperwork finally gets worked out.
Not much else has been happening.
I haven't been writing much about what I've been reading recently. Hmmmm. I've just finished 'Billy Liar,' which I enjoyed but was really short, and now I'm reading 'Interesting Times' by Terry Pratchett which I'm enjoying more than 'Small Gods' which was the last of his that I read. I've also read another Fred Secome book 'Goodbye Curate' and started reading 'High Fidelity.'
Erm, still getting on OK with the latest series of The Tribe, must remember to set the video for next week once I've watched this weeks ep, although I know what's going to happen at the end thanks to a spoiler on moletalk which I only read because I thought it'd be wrong (serves me right really!!!)
Also still enjoying the repeats of series 2 of Popular and marvelling at the shear madness which is 'Bad Girls!'
