Dec. 3rd, 2008

Yesterday evening the bus on which I was travelling hit the car in front.  It was a very minor incident.  We were in a queue at traffic lights, the car attempted to pull away, it stopped suddenly and then there was a crunch.  We couldn't have been travelling at more than a mile an hour.  The car clearly had some kind of mechanical fault as we followed it for a little way and it wasn't pulling away properly at all.
That or it's driver was awful.  It was the second minor road accident I've experienced in the last three months.  This one wasn't as dramatic or destructive as the last but it was still annoying.  I was on my way to Brownies and we had to stop while insurance details were swapped etc. which made me really, really late.

Then about 1.45 this afternoon I was walking to a different site for work and I nearly got run over.  I was walking on the pavement and a car suddenly reveresed at speed out of a drive.  It was a good job I noticed so I could rush out of the way.  Don't people look when they reverse out of drives these days?  As far as I was aware pedestrians have right of way on pavements.  Tut!

My big sulk at the moment however is charity Christmas cards.  Normally, I choose my Christmas cards using the following low tech criteria (a) I like the designs (b) they're cheap.  This year I decided it might be nice to buy some charity cards.  I don't have as much money to donate to charity as I used to so I thought it might be an easy way of helping out.  My issue is that Charity cards all seem to come in boxes of one design.  The only ones available in mixed boxes are aimed at kids and only 7 cms square.  I need 'normal' sized cards as I tend to pop letters in with cards for people I don't see regularly.  All I ask for is a box of 30 reasonable sized cards with four different designs to choose from.  It doesn't look like I'm going to find them though.  It might be Tesco or WHSmith cards for me again this year.  Alternatively, I might go and buy a selection from Woolworths.  It sounds like they could do with some help at the moment.
