So I watched the first episode of 'Ashes to Ashes'. I have just a few comments:
(1) The filming before and during the credits made me feel a bit seasick. It was basically a camera pointed directly upwards as a car drove through London so we could see the sky and the tops of skyscrapers. It almost put me off watching the rest of the show.
(2) I found the Keeley Hawes character immensely annoying. I felt that she overacted and was too posh. I can't imagine that I will warm to her in the same way I did to Sam Tyler.
(3) I can't help thinking that moving the action to London was a mistake. I understand that it fits in with the 80s and the whole 'greed is good' thing but in my opinion part of the charm of LOM was the northern setting. It didn't help that none of the characters had a vaguely authentic London accent. Maybe that is part of story though.
( Possible Spoiler )
I'll probably watch next week though.
Cardiff Ex (not Cardiff Bloke - this is a different one) has a girlfriend. He's posted some photos of them together on Facebook. I am oddly jealous. Even though I dumped him and it was clear that the relationship was never going to work. I am a strange, strange person.
