Christmas cheer...
Dec. 22nd, 2007 10:51 pmI think the right couple won 'Strictly'. They were both excellent this evening but Aleesha was more consistently good all the way through the series. I'm so glad that the final was on this evening. The programmes on offer from the other channels were dire. 'An Audience with Celine Dion' is pretty much my idea of hell on earth.
My poor mum is ill. Dad phoned this afternoon to say that she's got the tummy bug which is going around and wouldn't be able to cook me dinner tomorrow. I hope she's OK for Christmas. I don't fancy my chances of cooking a sucessful Christmas dinner. It's ruined my plan to take all my presents round there tomorrow, come home and take my clothes and stuff I need for staying over on Monday night. I'm now going to have to struggle down there with everything on Monday night, looking like some kind of demented backpacker. It's times like these that buying a pair of wellies as a Christmas gift does not seem like a good idea. They are going to be so difficult to carry :(
And finally, I planned to go out for a meal with friends to celebrate my birthday on Saturday 19th January. I normally have to book my friends at least a month in advance so I wrote a note in each of my Xmas cards telling them to save the date. Yesterday night I received a text saying that the wedding two of my friends were meant to be attending today had been called off because the bride was ill in hospital. It had been re-scheduled for (you've guessed it) 19th January. There is little point in having a birthday do if those particular friends can't attend so I have cancelled. My birthday celebrations always seem to be plagued by situations out of my control. Tut.
