Lots has happened over the last few days. I've been off of work since Tuesday and I've almost got to the stage of not worrying about what's going on at work in my absence now!

Anyway, back to my few days off.

On Wednesday Mum and I went on a day out to the Docklands Museum as there was a photography exhibition on there that Mum wanted to see. It was quite a small museum but there was a lot there and we didn't get around it all. The exhibits included a mock up of a street in the docks during the 18th century complete with sewage smell effects.

In order to get to the museum we had to get off of the Jubilee Line at Canary Wharf Station. I'd never been to the Canary Wharf area before and I was shocked at how much I liked it. I'm not much of a fan of the financial and banking sector as the companies are, in general, so un ethical and exploitative. As a result I'm ashamed of liking their sparkling office blocks and shopping mall and appreciating the landscaping that has been put in. It made me quite want to get a job there so I could grab my lunch at one of the many healthy take aways in the mall and eat it outside in the sun. The shops were great too, the mall had M&S, Boots, FCUK, Karen Millan, Reiss, Jones and LK Bennett amongst others. The only shops we have near where I work at the moment are greasy spoon cafes and estate agents. It was much better when I worked in Wimbledon.

On Wednesday night I had a bit of a clear out and managed to get rid of some stuff which was taking up a lot of space. This included a painting by numbers kit which I've had for about 15 years and have never finished and several books which I really don't need. I hate parting with books but I'm becoming more ruthless in my old age. When I looked closely around 1/4 of my books were actually my mum's which I had borrowed and never given back, now I'm returning them so she can store them in her own space. My uni work takes up a lot of space. I have about 12 lever arch files stuffed full of it. I'm loathe to get rid of it though as I hope to return to uni and do a masters one day and it may come in useful. All my subjects were linked so I feel I should keep all the Classics and Sociology stuff as well as the History. I've run out of space for CDs again too. I'll have to keep a lookout for a new rack which holds more but takes up less space than the old one. Maybe it's time for a trip to IKEA. I'd rather go there than Homebase for sure!

Yesterday, I went into Oxford Street to look around the shops. I didn't buy anything, but I enjoyed looking and it was good exercise as I walked all the way from Selfridges to Tottenham Court Road and around some very large shops in between. Hopefully, I'll make it into Kingston on Monday and buy a jacket there, otherwise I'll have to keep wearing my tatty old denim one which doesn't look very good for work. In the evening I went and had dinner with Tracey in Twickenham. We went to a new place called Smollensky's which is part of a chain. It was OK but more of a bar than a restaurant. There wasn't much choice if, like me, you don't like steak. We then went and met some of her friends out in Twickenham. I knew one of them but he'd forgotten me. It wasn't much fun as I wasn't prepared for a late night and was still wearing my comfy shopping outfit. In one bar we saw a guy I used to really fancy when I was 17/18. He is now engaged to someone I knew at school which is odd. They're both lovely though so I'm pleased for them. I always find it odd seeing someone I fancied a few years on. This guy hadn't changed much though, at least he isn't married with kids or anything!

We're having a bit of a family crisis right now as my dad had to be rushed to hospital in an ambulance this morning as he woke up with a terrible pain in his side. They think he might have kidney stones which are apparantly the most painful things a man can suffer from. The pain is meant to be similar to labour pains. They've given him load of pain killers and he seems to be OK at the moment but he has to go back on Tuesday morning for a scan. I just hope he's OK during the night as he got ill at 5am this morning.

I watched Strictly Dance Fever earlier and enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The amateur dancers were very talented and put on a good show. I will enjoy watching that followed by Dr Who in the coming weeks. Makes a change to have something decent to watch on a Saturday night.

I changed my mood theme. I thought I'd go for the dragons as I'm Dragongirl. I like them better than the flowers that I used to have but I'd prefer them if they were animated.
