Ad hoc post...
Thank goodness the train drivers have decided against going on strike next week. We're holding interviews (or a 'selection event' as it is being described) for a new Principal next Monday and Tuesday which means reserving ten parking spaces in the staff car park for candidates and panel members. The car park is normally full by 9am on a normal day. Multiple reserved spaces coupled with extra cars because of the strike may have resulted in complete chaos. At least we don't have that to worry about. The thought of having a new Principal in September is worrying to say the least. Everything could change.
My kettle is still on the blink. I'll probably try and buy a new one in Argos tomorrow. My mp3 player is also still acting oddly. I'm hoping it'll survive for a few more months as I can't afford a new one of those too. No news on mum's laptop. I'm dreading that being broken. It was ridiculously expensive and she'll be so upset.
I've just got a flyer for a 30 day free trial on lovefilm. I may sign up. I hardly ever watch movies these days but TV is so dire it would be nice to have an alternative. All I'm really following now is Skins (and Hollyoaks which I never stopped following) as everything else has either finished or is worse than I expected it to be. I considered trying to watch Dirty Sexy Money but I missed the first episode and now can't be bothered.
It's been announced that Skins will return next year with a completely new cast. The producers aim to completely change the cast every two years so the main characters are always 16-18 years old. I have mixed views on this. It may be a wise move as so many shows lose the plot when one or more actor leaves and the rest carry on with a substitute or a noticable gap. On the other hand it may be annoying to viewers who have to keep getting to know a large number of new characters. We shall see. I'm really looking forward to Jal's episode on Monday. Who would have thought that Chris and Jal would be the love story of series two?
I explained the concept of 'jumping the shark' to my family over Sunday lunch last week. I think they just about got it.
I hate BT. My phone bill this month was £37 but I only made 12p worth of calls. How can it possibly be so expensive?!
